Rearranging the Furniture

on September 6th, 2017 by Rebeccca

This is Galen’s fifth night at home! We have been going back to the hospital morning and night to get set up with the drugs for the day and to see the doctor, but today they gave me the drugs for a 24-hour period, so we don’t have to go back in until tomorrow morning at 8:00. Plus, we talked to the home care coordinator today, so that should kick in soon, meaning no more hospital visits!

Since coming home, Galen has been eating better, but is very weak. He has been sleeping lots, which I guess is a good thing.

We added a “new” piece of furniture to our tiny living room – a very comfy electric lift reclining chair, borrowed from my mom’s room at the nursing home. It was rarely used, except perhaps by visitors who wanted a quick nap. Now when Galen tires of bed (or is it my snoring?), he can recline in comfort in the living room. My brother, Wendell, and his wife were visiting Mom today and delivered it and helped to shift the other furniture around so that everything fits. Almost fits. There are still a few adjustments to make, but Galen is comfortable.

Sorry I haven’t had time to write much, but we are settling in to this new schedule and hope to have a bit more time to write. I have several topics simmering on the back burner right now :)

Good to hear. I’ve been watching for an update. Glad Wendell and Joyce were able to give you a hand in the furniture rearranging. And good to hear the hospital visits are lessening. Blessings.

I am glad to hear that you are adjusting to life The home. It is so much nicer to be at home than in the hospital. Also glad to hear that Galen is eating!

Mom’s recliner is very comfy – I can vouch for that. I am glad you got it to fit in your living room, although it has left me scratching my head as to how!
    Blessings.

Think of you both every day and send all the positive energy and love we have. You are both such amazing souls and as always make the world a better place with your energy and attitude. This is a hell of a diagnosis and can’t imagine how hard it is for you both. Stay positive and know that miracles DO happen. Peace and blessings.

Nothing like a comfy chair to wrap yourself into! Are the meds keeping him more comfortable without knocking him out? I bet his humour is still twinkling through- We hope we can drop in briefly in the next little while after your family have all been.XX
